Product Description
This is a personal pocket fire starting kit. The container is a 3 1/2 by 2 1/4 inch metal tin, similar to an Altoids tin. Kit contains two implements with which to start fire: a ferrocerium rod and a magnifying lens. There are three types of tinder in the kit: a magnesium rod, five feet of jute twine & an 8 1/2 by 2 1/4 inch piece of muslin (for charcloth). Two ranger bands are also included in the kit, which can be used as fire tinder, as well as for securing the tin in a closed position. A Shrade lockback knife is also included, featuring a 1 1/4 inch straight blade. Knife measures roughly 4 inches when open. This kit provides several combinations of making fire. The tin can can be used for making charcloth, which will catch a spark easily from the ferrocerium rod, as well as produce an ember from using the magnifying lens with the sun. Instructions on how to make charcloth with the muslin & tin are included with the kit.The tin can be used to make your own personal survival kit or emergency first aid kit.
